GREGORY SIERRA (01/25/1937-01/04/2021) was an American actor best known for his portrayal of Detective Sergeant Chano Amenguale on the iconic 1970s television series, Barney Miller. Fans of another iconic 1970s sitcom, Sanford & Son, will recognize Mr. Sierra as the Sanford’s neighbor, Julio Fuentes.
Mr. Sierra is best known to Planet of the Apes fans as the mutant, Verger, in the 1970 sequel, Beneath the Planet of the Apes. He is also one of a number of POTA cast and crew members with ties to the Star Trek franchise; he had a guest role as Corbin Entek in the Deep Space 9 episode, “Second Skin.”
