Apes fans really should be grateful for Classic TV, because these comic vignettes from the ’70s involving Planet of the Apes keep popping up. First it was Don Rickles as Dr. Zaius from a 1973 special, and now we’re revisiting The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour in which Jim Nabors — forever known as Gomer Pyle on both The Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. — finds himself captured and thrown in a cage by a pair of POTA gorillas.
